scientific documents
Romeo Anghelache
TeXDocC - Frankfurt/Main - May 2005
Archiving
- machine friendly
- serve
- validable semantic models (includes structure)
- validable (usable) description (metadata)
- uses standard for generic transformation
- Publish
- reUse
- Xchange
- eVolve
- locate
- reference
Authoring
- user friendly
- easy to create
- semantic expression of concepts
- minimize ambiguity
- semantic hinting (controlled vocabularies)
- support independent (publisher independent)
Conclusions:
- TeX not designed for semantic authoring, nor archiving
- XML not designed for semantic authoring, but optimal for archiving
- Therefore:
- author in T4X (recover from TeX),
- convert to and archive the XML,
- store (and forget about) TeX
- Hermes: a bridge to XML (Archive), T4X (Authoring)
